Weight Loss and Wellness Challenge- WEEK 2

Written by Samantha on May 1st, 2017.

Thursday 27th April

First workout done for the week! After realising that the hotel that I am staying in didn't have a Concept 2 rower I struggled to find the motivation to get down to the gym and use the rowing machine that they had available. I'm lucky I found my heart rate range from the previous week as the monitor was shot on the machine! But thanks to my trusty iPhone timer, the counting in my head for stroke rate and amount of conversation I could have while rowing got me through my first workout! I did my 2x 15 minute pieces at my estimated UT2, probably not as accurate as I could have hoped but at least I have another workout in my journey. Good way to start my day and followed by some freshly cut mango and watermelon for breakfast that will keep me going until I have some traditional dim sum as it is available everywhere in Hong Kong! Hope everyone's workouts for the week have been good! If you haven't started for this week get onto it as trying to cram all of your workouts isn't a great feeling and if you have completed, congratulations to you!!

Friday 28th April

If walking around Hong Kong for 8 hours wasn't enough yesterday I dragged myself out of bed and down to the gym to complete my 1x 30 minute piece at UT2! The first half of the workout went by a breeze which was so nice but that feeling when you just keep looking at the clock when you get fatigued is terrible. The time passes so slow and you swear that you have been pushing for a lot longer, the sweat starts to break through and run down your face and back, your body becomes irritated and itchy and all you want to do it stop and call it a day. Had to push through all of that this morning! But hey, now I feel great to go and get my selection of fresh fruit and face my day as a tourist in Hong Kong... after a shower of corse! :) hope you are all well at home and look forward to getting home and seeing how your all doing!

29th April 2017

I think one of the hardest challenges I am trying to beat during this 24 weeks is to train my brain. I have realised that the biggest enemy of all is your brain! Your brain will talk you out of anything that might cause pain!! Through every workout, when my body starts to fatigue, my brain steps straight in to stop you, teach yourself to push past the little voice in your head and it will become a habit once you do it enough! I had to do this today on my final workout for the  week! It's always nice once your on the countdown home and only have a few minutes left, but through the middle section of my workout today was tough. All I can say now is I'm grateful that I could complete it... now where is my coffee?

Good to be back in New Zealand now, a little colder than when I left but we are so blessed to live in such a beautiful country!
