Weight Loss and Wellness Challenge- WEEK 1

Written by Samantha on April 24th, 2017.

Thursday 20th April

Was feeling a little nervous but also excited to start today! I had a real struggle sticking to my heart rate and adapting to the numbers as my heart rate monitor didn't work properly. After trying for a while I decided just to just row without it which was fine but had to alter the programme a little. Felt good once I had completed my 2x 10 minute pieces  and was excited that I had already started my journey. After my row I was well out of energy so I just fuelled up on a cold pressed green juice, thanks to our friends at Soul Organics. I did a couple of stretches and then headed to work to start my day. I look forward to tomorrow.

Friday 21st April

I woke up a little stiff this morning after my row yesterday so I will be making sure that I stretch well before and after so that I look after my muscles. Today was all about priorities for me as it was my birthday and I had so many things to look forward to, however I stuck to my gut and knew that once I had completed my 2x 11 minute pieces I would feel much better. I gave myself plenty of time to connect my heart rate monitor and create a playlist of my favourite songs to listen too (find it so much easier to listen or watch something while rowing). Again I struggled to lower my heart rate but managed to flick in between the numbers that I was meant to. I’m glad that I had my warm up and utilised it as my body loosened up and I ready to get going. My partner and Dad jumped on a rower next to me and did the workout also which was great as time always flies when you have a team around you for support. I made sure that i followed the stretches in the book after my workout just so that my body would thank me!! Right… now coffee time for me!

Sunday 23rd April

Today seems to be the hardest day to push my body into motivation mode! Its now 7pm, I'm full from dinner, have three loads of washing to fold and a bag to pack for overseas and a week of food to prepare! I spent my weekend at the beach, which was full of surfing, stand up paddle boarding and swimming. I love getting out and fulling my weekends with adrenaline pumping activities! The odds were against me however, but decided just to throw on some comfortable clothes, grab my heart rate monitor and head out the door. I always try and find a positive and just was thank full that it was a cooler night so that I could enjoy my workout.  2x 12 minute pieces tonight at UT2… all I knew was if i didn't start then i’d be there feeling guilty all night. Workout was a breeze and was so nice to get it done. Made sure I warmed down and stretched so that I wouldn't wake up stiff tomorrow. Pleased with this week as now I have already completed the week 1! Bring on week two!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the individuals who started this week! Please keep in touch with me through messages and ask where I can help make it a little easier for you. I head overseas today so will be doing my workouts from there. Don't worry my heart rate monitor is packed and ready! Look forward to hearing from you all!
